KeNHA TVET Scholarships Opportunities: Technical and Vocational Education Training for Kenyans

The KeNHA TVET Scholarships, an initiative by the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA), empower students who demonstrate vocational excellence, leadership potential, and financial need.

The Technical & Vocational Education Training (TVET) is for unemployed youth residing in communities along the road project. This initiative aims to equip young people with essential technical skills, enhancing their employability and economic opportunities.

Eligibility Criteria for the KeNHA TVET Scholarships

Applications are open to candidates who meet the following requirements:

Basic Requirements:

  • Must be aged between 18 and 35 years old.
  • Must have at least a Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) and no formal training at the diploma level or higher.
  • Must be able to read and write.
  • Must be a resident of one of the following sub-counties along the Kwa Jomvu – Mariakani road project:
    • Jomvu
    • Kinango
    • Kaloleni
    • Rabai

Priority Considerations: 

Preference will be given to:

  • Orphans and youth from single-parent families.
  • Young single mothers who meet the qualification criteria.
  • Persons with disabilities.
  • Applicants from low-income families and informal settlements within the project area.

Scholarship Coverage 

The scholarship will cover the following expenses:

  • Tuition and examination fees.
  • Required learning materials for the selected courses.
  • A monthly subsistence allowance for each beneficiary.

Application Process

Application Forms: Application forms can be obtained through the following methods:

  • Downloaded from the KeNHA website: www.kenha.co.ke
  • Hard copies available at:
    • KeNHA Coast Regional Offices – Public Works Building, 2nd Floor, Off Shimanzi Road, Mombasa.
    • Jomvu Sub-County Offices.
    • Kinango Sub-County Offices.
    • Kaloleni Sub-County Offices.
    • Rabai Sub-County Offices.

Submission of Applications:

  • Completed application forms must be stamped by the Area Chief or Assistant County Commissioner as proof of residence in the designated sub-counties.
  • Applications should be submitted to any of the locations listed above.

Selection Process & Scholarship Awarding 

The selection process will be conducted in collaboration with the National Government and County Education Officers from the respective counties.

Selection Steps:

  1. Review of Applications – All submissions will be assessed based on the eligibility criteria.
  2. Physical Vetting Exercise – Shortlisted applicants will be invited for an in-person vetting session.
  3. Final Selection & Enrollment – A final list of successful candidates will be compiled. Selected applicants will be contacted and placed in vocational institutions for the May 2025 intake.

Scholarships will be awarded based on a comparative evaluation of applications, ensuring fairness and adherence to merit-based selection criteria.
