Who is eligible to apply?

Applicants must:

  • You will be required to pay tuition fees in Sweden.
  • Apply for a campus-based program at the University of Gothenburg as first priority via universityadmissions.se.
  • Submit a complete study application by 15 January 2026.

Applicants enrolled in online programs are not eligible, except in cases of temporary distance-learning adjustments.

NOTE! You can still be eligible for the scholarship if a program partly includes studies abroad or is forced to switch to distance learning studies due to circumstances such as a pandemic.

How will the scholarship be distributed?

The scholarship foundations will transfer the payment directly to the University of Gothenburg for your tuition fees. The scholar does not need to act in this matter.

If I am unable to apply in time, can I apply later?

Late applications will not be considered.

Can I combine the Axel Adler Scholarship with other scholarships?

Please note that it is not possible to combine the Axel Adler Scholarship with another scholarship covering the tuition fee. You may apply for several tuition fee scholarships, but you can only be awarded one. 

What happens if I am unsuccessful with my studies? Will the scholarship be withdrawn?

To keep your scholarship, you must complete at least 75% of the semester’s credits. Regular follow-ups are conducted.

Can I defer my scholarship?

The same deferment rules for admissions are applied to the Axel Adler scholarship.

What should I do if my fee status changes?

If your fee status changes during your studies, you must notify us at: scholarships@gu.se.

I will take a study break. Can I keep my scholarship?

Please contact us if via scholarships@gu.se if you have been granted a study break.

When your study break is registered in the study documentation system Ladok, contact us, and we will make sure that the scholarship is transferred to the upcoming semesters when you return from your study break.

If I am suspended due to disciplinary matters, what happens to my tuition-fee scholarship?
