• Have earned a 3.0 GPA or higher in previous coursework.
• Be enrolled full-time.

Benefits:

• The scholarship covers 50% of tuition only.
• Award amount varies based on GPA:
• Gold Scholarship: GPA > 3.5 ($7,000/year)
• Elite Scholarship: GPA > 3.75 ($9,000/year)

How to Apply: 

 • Apply for Admission: Apply for admission to ETSU through the online application portal. 

• Automatic Consideration: Once you apply for admission, you will automatically be considered for the scholarship.

2. March of Dimes Undergraduate Nursing Nursing Diversity Scholarship

The March of Dimes Undergraduate Nursing Diversity Scholarship is a prestigious award designed to support and encourage underrepresented minority students pursuing a career in nursing.

• Eligibility: Awarded to undergraduate students from racial or ethnic groups underrepresented among nurses, enrolled in an accredited school of nursing.

• Focus: Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to working in maternal and infant health after graduation.

• Award Amount: $10,000 

• Purpose: To address the underrepresentation of minority nurses and improve health equity for all families.

How to Apply:

• Application Period: Applications typically open in January.

• Application Process: The application process usually involves submitting an application form, essays, transcripts, and letters of recommendation.

3. Slippery Rock University International Students Tuition Waiver

Slippery Rock University offers a reduced tuition rate for international students, which is considered a form of financial aid. 1  This reduced rate is typically applied to the out-of-state tuition rate.  

Here’s what I found about the reduced tuition rate:

• Eligibility: All degree-seeking undergraduate international students (freshman, transfer, post-baccalaureate) are generally eligible.

• Amount: The reduced rate is valued at approximately $3,500, deducted from the full out-of-state tuition rate for non-Pennsylvania residents.

• Maintenance: To retain this non-need-based financial assistance, students must maintain a 2.5 cumulative GPA.   

4. University of Illinois Chicago Laurette Kirsten Scholarship for International Students

The Laurette Kirstein Scholarship for International Students at the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) is a prestigious award honoring the legacy of Professor Laurette Kirstein, the founder of UIC’s Office of International Services. This scholarship recognizes international students who demonstrate academic excellence and a commitment to their education.  

• Eligibility: Awarded to currently enrolled international students (undergraduate, graduate, or professional) with a minimum UIC cumulative GPA of 3.5.  

• Benefits: Scholarship recipients receive a $5,000 credit towards their student account, which can be used for tuition, books, and living expenses.  

• Application Process: Applications are typically accepted in the spring semester, and the deadline is usually in March.  

• Application: Submit an application through the Office of International Services during the spring application period.

5. University of Missouri Sinclair School of Nursing Bobby Joe Waggoner Memorial Scholarship

The Bobby Joe Waggoner Memorial Scholarship is a scholarship offered by the University of Missouri Sinclair School of Nursing.

7. Epsilon Sigma Alpha Alice/Jeanne Wagner Memorial Scholarship

The Epsilon Sigma Alpha (ESA) Alice/Jeanne Wagner Memorial Scholarship is a scholarship offered by the ESA Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Epsilon Sigma Alpha International. It aims to support students pursuing a career in nursing.

• Eligibility: Awarded to pre-licensure nursing students enrolled at member AACN schools.

8. University of California San Francisco School of Nursing Styles International Students Scholarship

9. THEDREAM.US National Scholarship

THEDream.US National Scholarship is a scholarship program designed to support undocumented students who are pursuing a college degree in the United States.  

Eligibility:

• Undocumented students with or without DACA or TPS
• Came to the U.S. before the age of 16 •Graduated from a U.S. high school or have a GED
• Minimum GPA of 2.5
• Enrolling full-time at a partner college in your state
• Eligible for in-state tuition (except for private colleges in your state)

Award:

Up to $16,500 for an associate’s degree  

Up to $33,000 for a bachelor’s degree  

Additional stipend for books, supplies, and transportation (up to $6,000)  

Deadlines:

Application opens: November 1, 2024

Application closes: February 28, 2025

THEDream.US also offers the Opportunity Scholarship for students in states where they cannot get in-state tuition.

10. Esperanza Education Fund Scholarship

The Esperanza Education Fund Scholarship is a need-based scholarship that helps immigrant students and children of immigrant parents in the Washington D.C., Maryland, and Virginia (DMV) area pursue higher education.

Eligibility:

• Must be a graduating high school senior or recent GED recipient residing in the DMV area.

• Must plan to enroll full-time in an accredited college or university.

• Must have a family income of less than $100,000.

• No citizenship requirements.

Benefits:

• Scholarships range from $5,000 to $20,000.

• Scholarship recipients receive mentorship and support services.

Application: Submit an application online through the Esperanza Education Fund website.

Application Materials: Include household financial information, one essay, and one letter of recommendation.

Application Deadlines:

• Bachelor Degree-seeking applicants: February 1, 2025
