The King-Morgridge Scholars Program is a four-year, fully funded undergraduate scholarship at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. It is designed for high-achieving, low-income, first-generation students from developing countries who are dedicated to poverty alleviation and community impact. Each year, six (6) scholars are selected based on leadership, academic excellence, and commitment to social change.

Which fields qualify?
All undergraduate (Bachelor’s degree) programs offered at UW–Madison. Scholars can pursue any discipline of their choice.

Who is eligible to apply?
Applicants must:
- Be an incoming first-year undergraduate student
- Be a first-generation university student from a low-income background
- Have received a high school diploma within the past 3 years
- Be a citizen of and graduate from a secondary school in an eligible country in:
- Africa (e.g., Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana, South Africa, Egypt, etc.)
- The Caribbean
- Latin America
- South Asia
- Southeast Asia
❌ Transfer students, graduate students, and those who have already earned a post-secondary degree are not eligible.

Selection is based on:
- Academic excellence
- Demonstrated leadership potential
- A compelling 500–700 word essay
- A proven commitment to poverty alleviation and social impact

How do I Apply?
- Apply to the University of Wisconsin–Madison as a first-year undergraduate student via Early Action.
- Set up your NetID using the campus ID emailed to you.
- Log in to the Wisconsin Scholarship Hub (WiSH) portal.
- Select the “King-Morgridge Scholars Program” under your list of eligible opportunities.
- Complete the scholarship application, including:
- A series of eligibility questions
- A 500–700 word essay
- Submit both your UW–Madison admission application and King-Morgridge application by November 15, 2025.
