Both leads must show capacity to administer the grant and provide support letters. Associated partners (e.g., NGOs, SMEs, industry bodies) may join but cannot receive direct grant funding (except travel costs).

Applicants are assessed on their capacity to:
- Conduct SWOT analyses of student projects
- Provide actionable commercialization frameworks
- Deliver mentoring and practical capacity building
- Build sustainable UK–Africa institutional collaboration.
