The Data for Farm Value Global Challenge 2025 is a call for startups to develop innovative, data-driven solutions that empower smallholder farmers and integrate them into the agrifood data economy. The challenge is organized by the FAO in collaboration with the University of Helsinki’s Viikki Food Design Factory.

Who is eligible to apply?
Startups that meet the following criteria:
- Legally registered companies
- Team of at least 2 people, with 50% of their working hours dedicated to the solution
- Technology Readiness Level (TRL) between 3–7
- Pre-seed to Series A funding stage
- Annual revenue under €500,000
- Able to attend events in Rome (Oct 2025) and Helsinki (Nov 2025)
- All communications in English

- Innovation potential
- Feasibility and scalability
- Impact on smallholder farmers
- Business model fairness and sustainability
- Relevance to data use in the agrifood sector
