The Berlin Mathematical School (BMS) is a joint graduate program of Freie Universität Berlin, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, and Technische Universität Berlin, under the Cluster of Excellence MATH+. It offers a world-class, fully funded PhD program in mathematics that combines pure and applied research in a vibrant, international environment.

Who is eligible to apply?
- Phase I: Applicants with a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics or Applied Mathematics (entry into Master’s + PhD path)
- Phase II: Applicants with a completed master’s degree or equivalent in mathematics (direct entry into doctoral research)
How Do They Choose Applicants?
Selection is based on academic excellence, research potential, recommendation letters, and motivation. Applicants may also be matched with potential PhD supervisors.
