ANSO Scholarship 2026: China’s Fully Funded Program to Unlock Young Talents (Masters & PhD)

All eligible and interested international students are now encouraged to apply for the 2026 ANSO Scholarship, which will support young, driven people worldwide in their efforts to advance science and knowledge.

The ANSO scholarship covers all of your tuition, housing, living expenses (up to CNY 84,000 annually), and full health insurance for the duration of the relevant academic year.

The ANSO Scholarship is committed to fostering collaboration, communication, and scientific and technological developments in order to increase worldwide scientific and technical capacity.

Describe the award to me:

The ANSO Scholarship for Young Talents is a fully funded program established by the Alliance of International Science Organizations (ANSO) in partnership with the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), TWAS, and UNESCO. It supports outstanding international students to pursue Master’s or PhD degrees at the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC), the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS), or institutes of CAS across China.

Which fields qualify?
All academic fields available at USTC, UCAS, and CAS institutes — particularly Science, Engineering, and Technology-related programs.

🎓 Fully Funded Master’s and PhD Scholarship.

Who is eligible to apply?

Applicants must:

  • Not hold Chinese citizenship.
  • Be proficient in English or Chinese.
  • Be born after 1 January 1996 (Master’s) or 1 January 1991 (PhD).
  • Meet the admission criteria of USTC/UCAS.
  • Not hold another Master’s/PhD degree in China.
  • Commit to full-time study and compliance with Chinese laws and university rules.

How Do They Choose Applicants?

Selection is merit-based and considers:

  • Academic excellence and research potential.
  • Quality of recommendation letters and motivation statement.
  • Alignment with ANSO’s mission and research goals.
  • Preference for Least Developed Countries (LDCs) and female candidates under the ANSO-CAS-TWAS/UNESCO PhD category.

Which nations are qualified?
🌍 All countries except China.

Where will the prize be accepted?
📍 At USTC, UCAS, or CAS institutes located across China.

How Many Honors?
Up to 200 Master’s and 300 PhD scholarships are awarded each year.

  • Monthly stipend (CNY 6,000–7,000 for PhD / CNY 3,000 for Master’s).

What’s the Duration of the Award?
